Assagioli was passionate about Energy
Assagioli was passionate about Energy - and how to work with it. God is Energy and Energy is Life he wrote. It was the direction he foresaw psychotherapy moving towards and his initial vision of psychosynthesis - or biopsychosynthesis incorporated energy awareness and work. For those of you interested in the Energy Therapies - and whoo want to find out more - Confer are holding a day on Saturday July 8th - with Phil Mollon and Ruthie Smith - who are inviting a few of us in the EPN - Energy Psychotherapy Network - to take part. I shall be giving a demo of EFT (tapping).
Personally I am glad that this is taking place - to strengthen credibility and share evidence and info about EP (Energy psychotherapy and psychology) in the UK. So much of mainstream psychotherapy and psychoanalysis is founded on exploring the past - the parental wounds and the transferences that arise and are central to it working. And important though that is - it does not have always have to be central. Psychosynthesis recognised this - Assagioli encouraged that we work on the transference (not focus on it) only when it emerges and needs to be acknowledged. Psychotherapy needs to move beyond just the past - to include what's in the 'field', (present), the psyche of politics, the eco-social context, the reality of how we are all connected into the narrative of what's going on in our world.(into the future). It's not enough to divorce our 'individual' therapeutic process from this context ... the suffering of others on the planet is a necessary part of our own personal journey, direction and choices.
